How? Our process is simple.

Our exclusive rolodex of independent, experienced and inspiring women have committed to a voluntary “bank” of ½ hour consultancy sessions for up and coming female entrepreneurs, career women and creatives.  These 30-minute slots are gifted by our organisation to support the talent development and industry awareness of ambitious entry level individuals. After an initial discussion designed to discover what you need to get your paw in the door, we curate our consultancy match-making service according to relevance and individual need. The Cat’s Mother then organises a time and a place that makes the conversation convenient and impactful.

Our Story

The Cat’s Mother was founded by Niki Evangelou and Natalie Wade in November 2019. Working together at a youth-led music charity for 6 years, we began to realise the difference in the way the boys’ careers developed compared to the way the girls’ seemed to. Although the girls were initially easier to place in secondments (mostly in admin and personal assistant roles), their progression was a lot slower. They didn’t ask for pay rises or reviews and the boys accelerated faster.

We’ve always known that the music and creative industries aren’t really linear; there are no clear progression routes and a lot of it is about who you know, rather than what you know. What proved more difficult, was that some careers are almost male-exclusive. With a lack of visible female role models, it became clear that there needed to be a formalised process around seeking out the best women in the business and connecting them with rising talent across a wide range of creative areas. That’s when The Cat’s Mother was born. Using our own professional dynamic as inspiration for the concept, we created a model which both supports the development of the emerging and fulfils the passions of the established.
